Hulu's live debate streaming—cable's worst nightmare?
As if the live presidential debate coverage on every major network and news website weren’t enough, tonight’s lexical blizzard will be streamed by Hulu, too—straight to you! (Yes, I’ve been reading children’s books / And learned that rhyming really cooks!) For distribution, the move couldn’t matter less, but the fact that Hulu is now branching out into live streaming of broadcast feeds (tonight’s comes from NBC) should terrify local network affiliates. Not just a catch-up service, Hulu clearly has the potential to become a full-fledged IPTV operator that can replace traditional TV delivery systems.
